Rabiya Mateo talked about being a Kapuso
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo revealed the reason why she chose GMA-7 over other networks.
From the pageant stint, Rabiya is now venturing into acting. In November, she formally signed a contract with the Kapuso network. From that, she was given the chance to showcase her acting skills in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Wish Ko Lang.
Now, she is the leading lady of Bong Revilla in Alamat ng Agila Book 2. With this, her acting career is starting to soar. In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Rabiya Mateo shared that even before she finished her MUP reign, GMA was already scouting her to be a Kapuso. It started when she had a chance encounter with GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Valdes.
“So, right after that, she messaged my manager, si Sir Jonas Gaffud, at she’s interested in getting me for GMA,” the Ilongga beauty said. However, since it was just a verbal agreement, Rabiya did not expect too much from it.
After the Miss Universe pageant in Florida in May, GMA reached out again to Rabiya. “I was so surprised. It was a confirmation from them na, ‘Okay, we want Rabiya,’ pero kailangan lang talaga hintayin ang mga contracts na matapos para clean slate,” she shared.
Because of this, she did not consider other networks already. Having this opportunity made her so grateful. Rabiya Mateo admitted the dilemma that most beauty queens had to go through after their reign.
Many beauty queens were worried about what will happen next after their pageant stint. Thankfully, Rabiya already found another path for her new journey. She has been doing a lot of preparations for her acting career. Rabiya shared previously that she went through acting workshops.
