Plunder Charge File Against Quezon Governor for Allegedly Using Annual Budget
Quezon provincial council filed a plunder case against province governor if he will be found guilty of using the government’s annual budget.
Nine provincial board members, led by Majority Leader Sonny Ubana, will launch a lawsuit against Governor Danilo Suarez and the capitol’s department heads in the Lucena Regional Trial Court (RTC), according to a statement. Even though the court has not yet addressed the dispute, Ubana’s group is simply waiting for provincial officials to use their annual budget.

It will be recalled that the proposed 2021 Annual Budget was rejected by the provincial council’s Majority majority due to its purported questionability. However, after the Office of the President suspended them, it was recently authorized by the four votes who make up the Minority bloc in a special session.
In response, the suspended voters filed a lawsuit alleging that two special sessions of the four voters and the vice governor were held illegally. They adopted the proposed yearly budget for 2021 and 2022 in an apparently illegal manner during the aforementioned session.
The governor had previously stated that what his council allies done was legitimate. He also stated right away that he would continue to use the fund and that their constituents would benefit as quickly as possible.
Provincial Accountant Evangelina Ong, Provincial Treasurer Rosario Marilou Uy, Provincial Budget Officer Diego Salas, and Provincial Agriculturist Roberto Gajo are among those accused of plunder. Meanwhile, Suarez claims that former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio may agree to split the presidency.
The co-chairman of the Lakas-CMD and Quezon Governor believes this is a viable possibility, especially if the party is unable to decide on a presidential candidate. Suarez underlined that this is his personal opinion, which can be taken into account.
