LTFRB Urges Operators to Give PPP Cards Containing P7, 200 Fuel Subsidy to PUJ Drivers

LTFRB reminded the operators to give the Pantawid Pasada Program (PPP) cards to the drivers containing their P7, 200 fuel subsidy.

On Thursday (November 25, 2021), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman Martin Delgra III told the operators to give the P7, 200 fuel subsidy for the drivers.

According to the Section 82 of R.A. No. 10963 or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN), qualified PUJs franchise holders were the only  beneficiaries of the fuel vouchers.

“However, ang nagmamaneho naman ang gumagastos ng krudo, so karapat-dapat lang na ‘yung cards na ‘yan maibigay ‘yan sa drivers kasi ito pong Pantawid Pasada Program or fuel subsidy ay para po ito sa mga bumibili ng krudo sa kanilang araw-araw na pamamasada,” Delgra said.

The Philippine government distribute the fuel subsidies for jeepney driver on Wednesday to help them amid the surging prices of petroleum products.

Landbank has already credited the amount to 85,000 active PPP cards but the bank will produce another 50,000 cards for those who don’t have cards yet. The drivers can use the cards at participating gas stations.

He LTFRB executive explained only PUJ drivers can avail the fuel subsidy as of the moment because they have the largest percentage in terms of public transport coverage.

“We share the appeal and in fact, meron pong panukala noong merong budget deliberation of the DOTr noong Lunes, may panukala ‘yung Senado na dagdagan ‘yung pondo sa susunod na taon under this fuel subsidy program at isali ‘yung ibang modes of public transport and we fully support that move,”  the agency’s head added.
