38 Houses & Agriculture Destroyed by Devastating Tornado in Cotabato
NATURAL DISASTER – A devastating tornado has destroyed 38 houses and several agricultural farms in Matalam, Cotabato.
Tornado is one of the unexpected natural calamities that could hit a certain area with no prior signs or indications. It could cause damage to properties and even loss of lives. This disaster usually left victims with a little or nothing to start with.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported that the tornado destroys about 26 houses in Barangay Manubuan and 12 houses in Barangay Poblacion, which affects numerous residents.
Several agricultural farms including rubber trees, mango and banana plantation in Barangay Manubuan suffered severe damages amounting to over P1 million due to the tornado devastation in the area.
The local government of Cotabato provides construction materials to the affected residents to the repair of damaged houses.
Meanwhile, the heavy rainfall in Koronadal, South Cotabato causes flash floods that destroys about four houses at Sitio Lower New Leyte in Barangay Topland. Four families got affected by the incident.

The affected residents are currently residing at the barangay hall or to their relatives. Several individuals were only able to save their motorcycles and the clothes they are wearing during the calamity.
The local government distributes food pack and relief items to the affected residents. The residents have also asked for financial assistance and donations from the kind-hearted individuals.
