Buhawi Sa Marawi – City Of Marawi Hit By Tornado
BUHAWI SA MARAWI – The city of Marawi was hit by a powerful tornado and was caught on camera.
Panic ensued as the people of Marawi were trying to find shelter. Skies darkened, winds were picking up speed, disaster was about to strike.
As the people looked up into the sky, they saw a spiraling vortex coming down to the ground. Debris was flying about as the residents rushed for safety.
You could see pieces of metal being sucked into the vortex. The damage brought about by the tornado was becoming more visible.
Buildings were razed and the roof of buildings was detached. In just a few minutes the winds began to get exponentially stronger.
People were frantic, screaming, and running for safety. The residents still stuck on the streets desperate to find a roof that wasn’t already destroyed.
Reports from ABS-CBN said that the tornado started about 2 p.m. on Monday. The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Office also stated that the tornado lasted for 10 mins.
One of the structures that was damaged was a school inside the temporary shelter of internally displaced persons. There were also a lot of cars that were left under a pile of galvanized iron sheets.
According to DRRM office head Tong Pacasum, authorities are roaming the areas hit by the tornado. They are assessing damages and checking those injured by the event.
As of now, there are still no reports of serious injuries or deaths due to the tornado. With this, the video posted by Mohd Mojib D. Marangit went viral.
The video has already garnered over 20 thousand reactions. It also has over two thousand comments.
