After the fire devoured their bodies, the minor victims could no longer be identified. According to Mario Corado, the victims’ grandfather, one of them had already gone outside, but the toddler had been left behind, so he returned inside.

The two minor fire victims were discovered holding each other during the recovery operation. According to the report, the fire started in the region about one o’clock in the morning.

The fire spread swiftly, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), because the houses were old and built of light materials. The route was small, making it difficult for firemen to enter, according to Fire Officer 2 Peter Blair Bacor, fire arson investigator of BFP Caloocan.

After more than two hours, the fire was put out. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Some of the families stayed in the adjoining covered court for the time being.

Meanwhile, a fire in their home in Barangay Pagdugue, Dumangas, Iloilo, claimed the lives of four children. A teacher was discovered deceased with her three minor children, ages seven, six, and three. The fire spread swiftly, according to the first responders, but by the time they arrived, nearly the entire house had been burned.
