No Movement on Prices of Pinoy Pandesal & Pinoy Tasty, Group of Bakers Says
A group of bakers said that there is no expected movement on prices of Pinoy Pandesal and Pinoy Tasty amid inflation.
On Friday (November 12, 2021), the Philippine Federation of Bakers Association Incorporated former vice president and spokesperson Chito Chavez that the stagnant price of bread was their act of support to Filipinos and government amid the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Chavez revealed that the Filipino bakers and bakeries in the country are currently struggling and striving just to survive amid the health crisis. Community bakers are struggling with the surging prices of ingredients for making bread.
Chavez said that the group of bakeries are suffering from the increasing prices of margarine, shortening, LPG, sugar and milk. The bakery’s management also shoulders the disinfection of the establishment.
The bakeries also provide disinfectant, alcohol, face mask and antibiotics of their employees. He also said that the bakeries and bakers in Cuenca, Batangas were severely affected by the economic crisis.
The agency’s spokesman explained that the community bakers will just adjust the size of the bread to cope up with the rising prices of bread ingredients.
Ang amin lamang laging pinag-uusapan is just to survive.
