The director of Yorme movie makes clarifications
Direk Joven M. Tan, the director of the Yorme movie said that Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is not the producer.
Yorme: The Isko Domagoso Story showcases the life of the former actor who is now one of the presidential candidates in the 2022 elections. From show business, Moreno was able to cross over to politics.
He is now popularly known as Yorme after he was elected as Manila Mayor in 2019. For the movie featuring his life story, Direk Joven said that the mayor has nothing to do with the production as he just shared his story, based on the article in PEP.
“Ibinigay lang niya ang story sa amin. Hindi niya tinanggap ang bayad sa rights ng story, ipina-donate niya,” the filmmaker said. The movie project is produced by Saranggola Films that also produced the MMFF entry last year titled Suarez: The Healing Priest.
Direk Joven said that Mayor Isko just read the script and approved it. The Manila Mayor suggested who will portray him in the movie but in the entirety of the production of the Yorme movie, he has nothing to do with it.
“One day bago ang last shooting day, ipinakita namin sa kanya ang na-shoot namin. Okay naman siya. Meron lang siyang pinabago na minor lang sa ending,” the director added.
Direk Joven also said that they did not submit the film to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2021 because, at that time, they were still unsure if cinemas will open
The Yorme movie featuring Xian Lim is scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 1. Raiko Mateo portrays the young Isko Moreno while it was McCoy de Leon who gave life to the character during his teen years.
