Who will Vico Sotto endorse in the 2022 elections?
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was asked in a recent interview about the politician he will endorse next year for the national position.
The young mayor, as known to many, has been receiving admiration for the efforts that his administration is doing for Pasiguenos. Even those from different cities and provinces are expressing good words for him on social media.
Because of this performance as a local chief executive, there were those who anticipated that he would run for a higher position next year. However, the mayor is seeking reelection in 2022.
Despite this decision of Vico Sotto to remain in the local government, it is inevitable that he will be asked about the national position. Based on the Twitter post of ABS-CBN reporter Katrina Domingo, the mayor was asked if who will receive his endorsement.
In an interview prior to this, vice presidential candidate Senate President Tito Sotto, Mayor Vico’s uncle, said that they haven’t talked yet about national politics.
In line with that statement of the running mate of Senator Ping Lacson, the Pasig City Mayor was asked about endorsing a candidate.
“Basta nagpaalam ako sa lahat —- nagpaalam ako sa party ko, nagpaalam ako sa tito ko —- na hindi muna ako makikigulo sa national politics,” the Aksyon Demokratiko Executive Vice President said.
Mayor Vico Sotto added that he is preoccupied with the things he needs to do for his constituents and this does not give him the time to think about national politics. “Basta focus lang tayo dito sa Pasig,” the young government official said.
With the premise that his endorsement would matter to many, the reporter asked if when the public can expect him to name the politician that he will endorse. “Basta what you can expect from me is that I will continue to focus on my job here,” the mayor said.
