Duterte on ICC: “Gusto akong ikulong. Pilipino ako, tapos dalhin mo…”

Pres. Duterte Speaks on ICC Investigation over his Drug Campaign

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke anew about the investigation of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

One of the staunch campaigns of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is the anti-drug war. When he was running for the top position in the government in 2016, he promised the Filipinos to end drugs within six (6) months. However, it was not met and the Chief Executive admitted that he might have miscalculated its extent in the country.

Since the campaign started, many laboratories were discovered and closed and people who are allegedly involved in the drug trade were arrested. However, on the other side, there are deaths linked to the campaign.

The anti-drug campaign in the Philippines did not only hook the Filipinos but as well as some foreign bodies. The International Criminal Court (ICC) wants a probe regarding the issue.

Previously, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is vocal about taking full responsibility for the drug war in the country said that he will retire from politics and go home to Davao City to prepare for his defense to the investigation of the ICC. He stressed that he has no problem going to jail but it should be a Filipino judge who will decide on it and a Philippine court that will sentence him.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke anew about the ICC investigation. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the 76-year-old Chief Executive stressed that the ICC wants to imprison him. According to him, he is sure that the international court has no jurisdiction over him.

He even gave a message to the ICC saying that nothing will happen they would insist on prosecuting him. His administration previously claimed that the International Court has no jurisdiction over the country following Ph’s withdrawal in 2018 from the treaty that made it.

“Itong ICC, gusto akong ikulong… Pilipino ako, tapos dalhin mo ako doon? Mga puti iyon, loko… Ako, sigurado ako wala silang jurisdiction sa akin,” he said.
