Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, boxer-turned-Senator Manny Pacquiao said that his stand about re-imposing Death Penalty in the Philippines remains “unchanged” – he is still pushing for it as punishment for crimes related to drugs such as manufacturing and trafficking.

The Senator stressed that he authored Senate Bill 189 that pushes for the re-imposition of the Death Penalty in the country. Based on the report, he also wants plunder to be under it but he believes that the justice system needs reform first to avoid sentencing innocent people.

According to Sen. Manny Pacquiao, there is a need “to overhaul” the three (3) pillars of the criminal justice system in the country to assure that only those who committed crimes would be sentenced.

Previously, the boxing champ also spoke his stand on vote-buying and selling. He encourages the people not to engage in it stressing that a vote bought is equivalent to six years of struggle and hardships. According to him, the welfare of the nation is on the line with regard to the said activity.
