PNP to Deploy Cops to Guard Cemeteries During UNDAS Closure

The Philippine National Police will deploy cops to guard cemeteries during the UNDAS closure or All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Previously, the Inter-Agency Task Force passed a resolution ordering the closure of all cemeteries in the country from October 29 to November 2, 2021. The measure aims to prevent the possible spread and transmission of COVID-19 during the UNDAS holiday.

The authorities also allow the public to visit cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria before the scheduled closure. However, the venue must only allow 30% of the total capacity but it can be raise to 50% if LGU permits.

UNDAS Closure

Many Filipinos have already trooped to cemeteries before the closure to visit their departed loved ones.

On Friday (October 29, 2021), the Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar announced that police will be deployed to various cemeteries nationwide during UNDAS 2021.

Eleazar will send the police officers to guard the cemeteries from visitors during the weekend until the end of closure. He also said that people with emergency and scheduled burial to attend are the only allowed to enter.

UNDAS Closure

“Yun ngayon ang babantayan ng mga pulis to see to it na hindi pupunta ang ating mga kababayan sa mga establishments na ‘yun except for emergency or meron talagang naka-schedule na libing,” Eleazar said.

The cops will be assigned at the entrance of cemeteries to prevent unauthorized visitors.
