Trillanes Says “Greatest Robbery” of Marcos is on Guinness World Records

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes III says the “greatest robbery of the late Ferdinand Marcos is on the Guinness World Records.

The former Senator turned to Twitter to declare that the Marcoses’ robbery under the late president’s rule has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. He claims Marcos is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records under the category of “Greatest Government Robbery.”

Marcos allegedly took $5-10 billion from federal finances, according to his tweet. He recommended others to look it up on Google to see whether he was speaking the truth.

“Nasa Guinness Book of World Records si Marcos for GREATEST ROBBERY of a gov’t amounting to $5-10 billion. Don’t take my word for it. I-google nyo. Paki-share para marami makaalam. Please lang, pumili ng tama,” he tweeted.

The former rebel soldier-turned-senator is seeking re-election to the Senate in 2022, this time as part of Vice President Leni Robredo’s senatorial slate. On Friday, October 8, Trillanes filed his certificate of candidacy for senator.

He will run for Senator under the Liberal Party and will be a member of Robredo’s Senate ticket, which he unveiled on Thursday, October 7, following months of deliberation. Trillanes was one of the presidential and vice-presidential nominees in the 1Sambayan opposition coalition’s nomination process.

Trillanes formerly served in the Senate for two terms. He was initially elected to the Senate in 2007, when he conducted his first campaign from prison, and then again in 2013 when he was already a free man.
