Man in Cebu City Arrested for Allegedly Manufacturing and Selling Fake Peso Bills

Cebu City local authorities arrested a man who was accused of manufacturing and selling fake peso bills during an entrapment operation.

An entrapment operation was carried out by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) against a man suspected of producing counterfeit peso bills. Police apprehended the culprit, identified as Joseph Salas, after he sold ten pieces of counterfeit $1,000 bills in the city’s Barangay San Nicolas.

The guy was also found with counterfeit $24,000 banknotes, according to the report. He is being held at the Mandaue Field Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

The police lieutenant admitted. Salas was under surveillance for four months before he was arrested, according to Col. Hector Amancia, deputy chief of CIDG-Central Visayas. The suspect denied being involved in the sale of counterfeit money.

According to his police statement, he revealed that his friend recruited him to create counterfeit money. In his last transaction, he made 30 pieces of bogus $1,000 bills and only paid them $500, according to his statement.

Salas, on the other hand, may have utilized a printer to create counterfeit peso bills, according to Amancia. The administrative case against the suspect is being developed, according to the article.

According to Amancia, the CIDG 7 is undertaking additional investigations in order to perhaps identify the suspect’s associates. Amancia warned the public about the spread of counterfeit money, particularly in light of the impending elections.
