Davao City Jail Seized Drone Camera Trying to Smuggle Illegal Drugs
Davao City jail authorities intercepted a drone camera allegedly attempting to smuggle plastic sachets of illegal drugs inside the jail.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BMJP) is looking into the alleged use of a drone camera to deliver illegal substances to the Davao City Jail. A member of Barangay Ma-a noticed a drone carrying three bundles of suspected shabu near the jail, according to the report.

The illegal substances measured 25 grams and were valued at P400,000, according to the police. The drone is said to have been used to smuggle illegal narcotics inside the prison.
BMJP is already looking into the discovered drone while trying to figure out who was behind the incident. Meanwhile, the next day, jail staff discovered sachets of suspected shabu hidden in a “chicken-pork adobo” lunch being smuggled into the city jail annex.
The illegal substances, estimated to be worth P32,000, were hidden in the meat slabs. The two people who delivered the things were caught.
Following two foiled efforts to carry shabu into the Davao City Jail in Barangay Ma-a, the BJMP-Davao has vowed to beef up security measures to prevent people from smuggling illegal substances into the facility. According to BJMP-Davao, the total value of the illegal substances intercepted was estimated to be P420,000.
“The BJMP will continue to be vigilant in securing our facilities to assure that all persons deprived of liberty under our care will be detained according to the standards set about by the law,” the BJMP-Davao said in a statement.
