DepEd Employee Caught with Illegal Drugs on Hand Arrested in Abra

Police authorities arrested an employee of the Department of Education (DepEd) after he was caught with illegal drugs on hand in Abra.

Jersey Pat Barbero, a resident of Barangay Cabaroan, Bangued, Abra, was identified as the detainee by PDEA Regional Director Gil Castro. According to the article, Barbero works for DepEd-Abra as a disbursing officer.

Barbero is on the PDEA’s list of High-Value Targets, according to Castro. According to the report, a PDEA intelligence officer posed to be a poseur buyer and transacted with the suspect.

Rizal street Bgy. Kabildatan Zone 7, Bangued, Abra was the site of the buy-bust operation. The suspect was caught with 1.3 grams of shabu with a Standard Drug Price of P9,300, buy-bust money, and his NMAX V2 gray motorcycle in need of service.

Meanwhile, several government officials have been arrested due to illegal drugs. Recently a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has been arrested after being caught with P1.8 million of an illegal plant called “Maryjane.” He was arrested along with a woman who was identified as his accomplice.

The transaction took happened on C-6 Road in Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig. According to the PDEA report, the officers seized 15 kilos of suspected Maryjane from the two. The apprehended soldier was a 34-year-old active Philippine Army personnel.
