DENR Wants Dolomite Beach To Become Tourist Destination In The Future

DOLOMITE BEACH – Manila Bay’s Dolomite beach could become a tourist hot spot after DENR said that it wants to promote it.

What can you see on dolomite beach? Dolomite! Ton’s of it spread everywhere. That’s about it. So, what makes it so special that the environmental department of the Philippines wants to turn it into a tourist destination?

Unlike most (if not all) artificial beaches around the world, the dolomite beach isn’t actually “artificial”. In fact, it was already a beach that was given a massive make-over. As such, sustaining the beaches’ image would constantly cost the government.

Still, DENR Undersecretary Benny Antiporda, the man behind the goldfish/dolomite experiment said it’s DENR’s “objective” to revive the Manila Bay area.

According to an article from Inquirer, Antipodra said:

We are expecting na kung sakaling tuluyan nang maglaho itong pandemyang ito, muli nang magbabalik ang sigla dyan sa negosyo na ‘ya

The controversial beach has since become a centerpiece for confusion amongst critics and a source of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety for its supporters.

When asked why they would open a public beach amid the pandemic, Antipodra stated that it could help alleviate the public’s anxiety levels. “Isang malaking tulong itong dolomite beach na ito kaya binuksan na agad para kahit papaano ay makatulong sa atin sa gitna ng pandemya”, he added.

Meanwhile, Antipodra also assured that authorities are imposing strict measures to ensure a minimized risk of COVID-19 transmission. Furthermore, the environment undersecretary said the Dolomite project was part of the effort to restore business in the area.
