Plane Crash in Russia Leaves Deaths

PLANE – The Let L-410 Turbolet twin-engine short-range transport aircraft carrying 20 parachutists crashed in region of Tazarstan in Russia.

A lot of people fear riding planes because of what the history holds – there were several incidents of airplane crashes. On another side, many recognize the convenience of aircrafts most especially for individuals who need to get to their destination fast.

There are several companies owning multiple aircrafts across the globe. Among those who are so used to using them are parachutists or parachute jumpers. Most of them get excitement more than fear everytime they do. However, in Russia, an unexpected incident killing several parachute jumpers recently happened.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, an Let L-410 Turbolet twin-engine short-range transport plane crashed after its takeoff in the Russian region of Tatarstan. It left 16 parachute jumpers dead and six (6) others injured.

According to the Tatarstan Regional Governor Rustam Minnikhanov, the pilots of the plane reported a failure of the left engine of the aircraft. They were up 70 meters from the ground then and they decided to make an emergency landing near the city of Menzelinsk. They tried to turn the plane leftward as they stayed away from an area with people.

However, according to the report, the wing of the Let L-410 hit a Gazelle vehicle and it overturned. Aside from the 20 parachutists aboard the aircraft, there were two (2) crew members. All six (6) people who survived the crash are currently in serious conditions.

An aeroclub in Menzelinsk is reportedly the owner of the aircraft and it refused to give a comment on the incident. The Investigative Committee which is a body investigating serious crimes lodged a criminal investigation with suspicion that the company did not abide by all the safety regulations.
