With the increase of kidnapping cases, the MPS is strengthening cooperation with the PNP. Currently, the MPS requested clues, case files, investigation data, and case transfers from the Philippines’ police force.

Additionally, the MPS wanted to discuss a joint crackdown on illegal crimes such as cross-border gambling. Moreover, the Chinese Public Security Minister also wanted to investigate illegal telecom, internet fraud, and robbery linked to Chinese nationals in the Philippines.

Along with this, both the PNP and the MPS agreed to conduct law enforcement capacity building and technical cooperation enhancements. As per the article, the move was meant to elevate both the Chinese and the Philippines’ counter-terrorism measures and law enforcement.

Last August, the PNP rescued two kidnapped Chinese nationals in Pasay City, Metro Manila. According to reports from Garda, the assailants shot and abducted the victims who were heading to an unknown location for a job opportunity.

The two were reportedly employees of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO). However, police are still looking for two other suspects that fled during the police rescue.
