Woman Died After Being Run Over by Car Driven by Drunk Ex-Army in Isabela

Police authorities in Isabela arrested an ex-army and accused of being a drunk driver after a young woman died when his car run over her.

A case has been filed in Isabela’s Santo Thomas Police Station against a former army officer who was engaged in an automobile accident in which a young woman died on the scene after being driven over by a car on Provincial Road in Barangay Ballelleng, Sto. Thomas. The suspect is charged with homicide by reckless imprudence.

Alberto Macaballug Quintana, 52, a married retired Army man from Brgy. Poblacion, Sto. Thomas, Isabela, is the suspect. Shiela-Ann Cataggatan, a 22-year-old woman from Brgy. Ballelleng, Sto. Thomas, Isabela, was the victim.

The victim was riding a motorcycle north while the suspect was driving a Mitsubishi Adventure north, according to Police Major Felix Mendoza, chief of the Santo Tomas Police Station. He claimed that the motorcycle was traveling slowly when the suspect’s vehicle emerged out of nowhere and collided with the victim.

According to the investigation, the suspect was under the influence of intoxicating liquor at the time of the accident. The sufferer was sent to the hospital, but he died there. The culprit was charged with a crime and was allowed to post bail.

Meanwhile, three women were on a motorcycle when they were hit by a pick-up vehicle as they attempted to cross the road. The young females broke a number of road laws, including not wearing helmets and overloading their vehicles.

They were pummeled on the ground as a result of the collision. The two victims appear to be OK and were able to move following the incident, however, one of their coworkers is still unconscious as a result of the hard hit.
