Netizens Call Out Manila LGU Over Situation of the Lawton Underpass Now
The online community has called the local government of Manila over the situation of the Lawton underpass where homeless people stay.
On Facebook, a worried user posts images supposedly taken at the Lawton underpass, which are in poor condition. It will be remembered that the Lawton underpass was one of the first to be beautified under Mayor Isko Moreno’s leadership.

However, on Wednesday, netizen Edwin Jamora released images purporting to demonstrate that the underpass was erected by homeless people. Based on his post, the current Manila administration only started cleaning certain underpasses last year.
In his post, Isko’s earlier move, in which he cleans up the area with a camera and a “very decent write-up by the yellow and communist media,” was lambasted by Jamora. The netizen went on to say that the underpass was now “sampayan na ng mga brip.”
Some people couldn’t believe it, but Jamora’s images were real, according to some netizens. It was discovered that a cleansing and rescue operation was carried out in the said underpass in August since it was already occupied by homeless persons.
Meanwhile, when the post went viral and received a variety of responses, the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) dispatched a team to Manila to clean and repair the Lawton underpass. The move was initiated because their office received the viral post depicting the underpass as a “dugyot.”
