OCTA Research Highlights Downtrend In NCR Virus Caseload

NCR CASELOAD IN DOWNTREND – Following stricter measures with the National Capital Region, researchers saw a drop in COVID-19 cases.

According to the OCTA Research group, COVID-19’s reproduction rate within Metro Manila is now at 0.99. As such, experts believe that this signals a downtrend of cases within the area.

Based on an article from Inquirer, Guido David, a senior researcher for OCTA said: “R = 0.99 in NCR (National Capital Region). This means the trend is now downward“.

The Reproduction Number or “R” is the average number of people who tested positive for COVID-19. On September 21st, the reproduction rate for COVID-19 within the Metro was at 1.03.

Still, David emphasized that the public should remain careful even if the caseload is in a downtrend. “We cannot be complacent yet”, said the researcher.

As per the article, David highlighted that the average daily attack date is still at 33.47% which is considered level 4. Meanwhile, the weekly average in the NCR is still at 4,674 new cases.

But, despite this being 20% lower than the previous week, hospital occupancy rates are still high. Fortunately, with the observed decrease reproduction rate in Metro Manila, there could possibly be an “end game” for the Delta Variant in the country.

Currently, Metro Manila has 41,569 reported active COVID-19 cases. Furthermore, the number of active cases in the country is now 162,580.

In the meantime, government officials are still heavily promoting vaccinations to the public. According to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., the government eyes to achieve herd immunity by November of 2021.
