Cavite Doctor Shares Experience Battling COVID-19 After Getting Infected 4 Times

A brave doctor from Cavite shared her extreme experience battling the dreadful coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after getting infected four times.

Dr. Jennifer Gaspar came to Facebook to share her story about surviving the infection. Gaspar said that she was first infected with the novel coronavirus in April 2020, for which she was brought to the hospital.

She had diarrhea and dyspnea (shortness of breath), according to her Facebook post, and spent two weeks in the hospital. She was caught by COVID-19 again in January 2021, and this time she had trouble breathing and was sent to the hospital for five days.

Gaspar was admitted to the hospital once more after suffering from a dry cough, dyspnea, and easy fatigability. However, she tested positive for the virus again in May of this year. This time, she had severe symptoms that led to pneumonia and hypoxemia, which is a condition in which the blood oxygen levels are lower than normal.

“First I had low back pain and headache. I thought it was just UTI. But then I developed chills, fever, body malaise, anosmia (loss of smell), and ageusia (loss of taste),” the doctor said.

“True enough, my swab result turned out to be positive. I was admitted again; a chest x-ray showed pneumonia… I was given Remdesivir, Tocilizumab, Dexamethasone, the usual meds that you hear for Covid patients,” she added.

Gaspar had her first dose of COVID-19 vaccination a month after her recovery, but her swab test result came back positive a few weeks before her second dose. She tested positive for the fourth time, but she had no symptoms.

“Guys, vaccines work, no matter what the brand is,” Gaspar has told others now that she is back on duty and fully immunized. “Please consider getting vaccinated.” According to Gaspar, their facility is currently understaffed, and many other healthcare professionals have tested positive for the virus.
