Toni Gonzaga received these reactions from Ogie Diaz and Cristy Fermin
Popular showbiz personalities Ogie Diaz and Cristy Fermin reacted to the controversial interview that actress-host Toni Gonzaga did with prominent politician Bongbong Marcos.
Toni was under fire after she released her Toni Talks vlog featuring the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos. When the video was posted on her YouTube channel, the actress-host highlighted the lessons that BBM learned from his father.
This did not sit well with the critics of the Marcos family and from human rights groups. Toni Gonzaga received criticisms to the point that the Ateneo Martial Law Museum issued an open letter condemning what she did.
However, there were also those who rallied behind the back of Toni. Ogie Diaz defended the actress-host by saying that it is her YouTube channel and it is her prerogative whoever she wants to interview.
The comedian-talent manager also said that it is “ka-oeyan” when netizens said that Toni should interview victims of Martial Law as well. He suggested that those netizens who criticized the actress-host should create their own channel and present their pieces of evidence that will contradict the statement of BBM.
“Ilabas n’yo yung mga itinatago n’yong ebidensiya ng mga biktima ng Martial Law at ipamukha n’yo kay Toni o kay Bongbong at i-remind n’yo uli yung sambayanang Pilipino sa madilim na kasaysayan ng bansa nu’ng Martial Law. Di ba, mas okay yon?” Ogie said.
He also pointed out that because of the social media rant of netizens against Toni Gonzaga, more people got curious and watched the interview which increased the number of views.
“Tingnan n’yo, kakasita n’yo kay Toni, ang daming na-curious, pumunta sa yt channel ni Toni, pinanood nila yung Bongbong interview, nakadagdag pa ng views.So, ano? Dapat ba may isyu rin nu’ng unang panahon si VP Leni Robredo para manganak din ang number,” the comedian-talent manager said.
Cristy Fermin also reacted to this issue through her radio show. She said that there is nothing wrong with the interview. The showbiz reporter stressed that Toni can choose her guests because it is her channel. “Besides, inaanak ni BBM si Toni at Paul Soriano noong kinasal sila. Napakagaling ng interview niya kay BBM dahil casual na casual lang. Wala kang mararamdaman na may hidden agenda siya,” she said.
Cristy also said that admit it or not, there are still Marcos loyalists until now but they are not just as noisy as the opposite side.
