Senate Says Michael Yang Arrest Could Be Issue Due To OSSA

MICHAEL YANG – The arrest of elusive businessman Michael Yang could become an issue for the Senate.

Recently, the Senate Blue Ribbon committee said they are pushing for an arrest warrant for Yang. This was due to their investigation concluding that Yang lied when president Huang Tzy Yen admitted that he funded purchases to their supplier.

However, Yang could not physically present himself in the hearing because he was in a hotel in Davao. Because of this, Yang appeared virtually from his hotel along with a translator.

Unfortunately, this posed a problem for the committee according to Senate President Vicente Sotto. He said it would be up to the  Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) as to how they would take the businessman into custody.

Meanwhile, Pharmally director Linconn Ong revealed he had COVID-19 and could not attend the hearing. But, the Senate committee chairman, Senator Richard Gordon said an ambulance would be on standby if his condition worsens.

Both Yang and Ong are wanted by the Senate after their investigation led them to believe that the two are lying. For Ong’s case, the Senate wanted to arrest him due to his vague responses regarding Pharmally’s financial capacity.

Pharmally is the firm that procured billions of pesos worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). However, looking into their records, the firm merely had over P500k worth of capital.
