With its ease of care, rich variegated foliage, and pleasant hues, the croton has become popular worldwide. As such, here are some tips and tricks on how to use care for this plant in your home or garden.

The San Francisco is also known as a Buenavista plant or Sagilala. It is a shrub that is perfect as a border and requires minimal effort to grow from cuttings.

For lighting, it is recommended to place the plant in good bright light. However, you should avoid hot direct sunlight to prevent scorching.

Also, maintain an even moisture level in the soil, but allow it to dry between waterings. If your home’s humidity is low, spray the leaves once a week with water or keep a tray of moist stones near the plant.

We need to keep in mind that Croton leaves attract dust. To maintain the leaves clean and dust-free, wipe them with a damp towel twice a month.

Additionally, we need to fertilize the plant while it is actively growing in the spring and summer. But, we can also fertilize less frequently or not at all during colder days.

Cuttings of 4- to 6-inch stems can be used to start new croton plants. To do this, simply remove the bottom leaves from the cutting and place them in a glass of water.

Next, Plant in a small container once the roots have formed. If the plant has outgrown its current container, just repot it.
