A male resident has been caught on camera running while carrying a washing machine along Brgy. 446, Zone 44 in Sampaloc, Manila.

Brgy. 446, Zone 44 chairman King Ancheta holds a program in their village to help the residents. The program has been called as online “Bring Me” challenge, which asked the public to bring the required items.

The program started during the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The village requires the barangay watchmen or ‘tanod’ to monitor the participants using the CCTV footage during the game.

A certain man has been spotted on the CCTV who is running while carrying a washing machine. The barangay officers learned that the latter is a game participant who joined the game to earn money to feed his family.

The resident Dean Lester Peñamante said that he joined the contest to win prizes. He is a local of Infanta, Quezon but currently renting a house in Manila. He is a former salad maker at a restaurant but lost his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lester is currently working as a mechanic in a shop.

The guy narrated that he do not own the washing machine in the viral video. He borrowed it from his neighbor and split the P500 prize. Three residents have won prizes in the “Bring Me” challenge. The prizes came from the barangay fund.

“Nasa labas po kasi kami nung araw nay un, tapos nung nagsabi na nga si chairman na bring me na yung ‘washing’, eksakto naman na katatapos lang gamitin ng kapitbahay namin, ayun inutusan nila ako para hiramin yung washing,” Peñamante said.
