Davao Jail Visitor Arrested After Caught with 35 Sachet of Drugs Filled in “Siling Labuyo”

Authorities arrested a jail visitor in Davao City after he was caught with 35 sachets of illegal drugs filled inside “siling labuyo.”

After attempting to smuggle illegal narcotics into the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) -11, a 40-year-old man was arrested. The sachets of illegal substances were allegedly combined with the food and chilli pepper he was carrying, according to the report.

Richard Caybot, a native of Calinan, Davao City, was recognized as the jail visitor. Caybot was apprehended while being inspected by the Davao City Jail’s Male Dormitory employees.

Authorities spotted the concoction in Caybot’s supper and realized it was an illegal narcotic when they peeked. Caybot mixed 25 sachets of shabu and another 10 sachets of shabu with the small chilli pepper in his plate.

The illegal substances seized from the suspect reportedly weighed 16 grams and had a street value of P256,000. The suspect has now been handed to the Talomo PNP’s custody, and the case will be filed today.

With the support of the PNP-EOD unit, JSupt told Peter Bongngat Jr., warden of the Davao City Jail-Male Dormitory, that they will tighten the clearing operations within and outside the prison. He also stated that stronger regulations will be maintained in all jails in the region, adding that this is not the first time that an attempt to sneak illegal narcotics into the facility has been made.
