Former Leyte Governor Polding Petilla Dies at 88

Former Leyte Governor Leopold “Polding” Enriquez Petilla died at 88. His family released details about the cause of his death and the burial.

Public servants are among the people who surely have made connections to many others in their lifetime. They have encountered, helped, and became the voice of people coming from different walks of life. Thus, when one dies, countless are broken but grateful for the service rendered by one during his or her lifetime.

Recently, another former public servant has joined the Creator. In a social media post, Mayor Ann Petilla confirmed that former Leyte Governor Leopoldo “Polding” Enriquez Petilla died at the age of 88 years old.

Based on the post, Petilla’s cause of death was cardiac arrest complicated by COVID-19. Following the protocols, the remains of the former Leyte Governor will be laid to rest as soon as possible.

In her Facebook post, Petilla was described as a lawyer who fought for the rights of the poor and those who are underprivileged. He continued it even when he became the governor of the province of Leyte.

After retiring from public service, the ex-Governor of Leyte lived a “simple, quiet, and private life”. He dedicated his time to his family – his children and grandchildren. Mayor Ann expressed their family’s love for their patriarch as they lost him in a time they were not ready.

One of the recent known personalities who fell victim to the virus is comedienne Mahal or Noemi Tesorero in real life. Many people including her showbiz friends were shocked when her sister confirmed the death of the comedienne.

Currently, PH is on the move to vaccinating the Filipinos to achieve population protection. At least 70 million people have to be vaccinated to achieve it.
