VP Robredo Talks About Running For Senator In 2022
ROBREDO – As the 2022 elections draws closer, many call for Vice President Leni Robredo to run for Presidency, but, how about being a Senator?
During an interview with ABS-CBN, Robredo was asked if she holds any interest in running for a Senatorial post. However, the VP firmly answered saying “No. I’m not”.
According to Robredo, the skills required to become a Senator is not amongst her strengths. Still, the VP has previously stated that she was open to running for the Presidency.
However, she has yet to confirm her decision in the matter. “I can run for a local position, I can retire, I can just help the next administration if I don’t run for president”, she added.
Currently, the VP has had talks with several officials and personalities to establish a unified opposition that would combat the administration’s candidates in 2022. Furthermore, she emphasized that she was very grateful for the trust and support she received from parties calling for her to run for the highest seat in the country.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte stated that he would be running as Vice President in the 2022 elections. Additionally, he said that he would personally audit the entire government if he wins.
These statements came after criticisms following the Commission on Audit’s (COA) yearly reports showing “deficiencies” in several offices of the administration. Due to this, Duterte asked the question, “Who audits COA?”.
Fortunately, members of the COA themselves previously answered the question long before Duterte asked. Now, supporters of the admin want COA to audit parties linked to the CPP NPA such as Makabayan and Gabriela.
