DOH Reports Average COVID Related Deaths In PH At 40 Per Day From September 1-5
PH COVID DEATHS – The coronavirus surge continues in the Philippines with 40 deaths per day on average.
Furthermore, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the data was from the first week of September alone. During an online press briefing, she said:

We are closely monitoring Region 3, 7, NCR, 4A, Caraga, 12, 1 and 10 as these are the regions, which posted the highest total deaths for the first week of September
COVID-19 mortality were highest in Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and Central Visayas, with 56, 26, 24, and 22 deaths, respectively.
During the same period, 12 people died in Caraga, Soccsargen, and Ilocos Regions, while 10 people died in Northern Mindanao.
In April 2021, the country had the highest average daily death rate of 135 people, followed by 131 in August 2021 and 124 in May 2021.
Since the pandemic began last year, 34,234 people have died as a result of the disease.
Moreover, Vergeire emphasized that COVID-19 related deaths at a national level was increasing since the last week of July. Additionally, a new peak was confirmed in the previous week as death reports keep coming.
Unfortunately, Vergeire warned the public that COVID-19 fatalities were “still expected to increase” as the Philippines faces another COVID-19 surge. Along with this, hospitals are reporting that they are once again at a critical level.
Meanwhile, during his public weekly address, President Duterte boasted how the Philippines’ COVID-19 death toll was lower compared to other countries. This, despite the DOH reporting surges of infection nationwide.
