Direk Brillante Mendoza gets asked about Coco Martin and Julia Montes

Coco and Julia are known as the CocoJul love team and their onscreen partnership started through a soap opera they did in the Kapamilya network. Now, they are once again working together in the long-running action-drama series Ang Probinsyano.
Aside from this, they are also doing a movie together with Direk Brillante. Based on the article in PEP, the filmmaker was asked if the rumored couple is a package deal when it comes to their projects.
The director said, “Hindi naman. Hindi naman. Pero parang… yun na nga, para madali na ang lahat.” He shared that when he was pitching the story to Coco Martin, he said that the leading lady is a wife with this certain characteristics. Then, the actor suggested that Julia Montes can do the role.
“Suggestion niya, ‘Si Julia.’ Sabi ko, ‘Ah, oo, si Julia, puwede. Para mabilis, wala na tayong masyadong… Kasi, mabilisan, e! Pag ibang artista, alam mo na, di ba? May ibang schedule, may ganyan-ganyan,” Direk Brillante explained.
Meanwhile, the director was also asked why he decided to shoot a movie amid the pandemic, he said that this project was unplanned. Direk Brillante shared that it has long been expressed by Coco Martin that he wants to do a movie with him again.
He was able to research something about a policeman who ran amok and an idea for a movie was conceptualized. When he told the actor about this, the latter immediately committed to the project. “Biglaan lang ito. Hindi rin ito inaasahan ni Coco. Talagang pag ganoon, nag-conspire ang universe, talagang mangyayari,” the director said.
