Russian-American Child Learns to Speak Filipino Due to Her Pinay Caregiver
The Pinay caregiver goes viral after the Russian-American child she watches learned how to speak the Filipino language thanks to her help.
Nicholas, a Russian-American child, has received positive feedback online after demonstrating his ability to pronounce the Filipino language. Nicholas, who is five years old, learned to speak Tagalog with the help of his Filipina nanny, Jobel Bautista, according to an interview with GMA News.

Nicholas has been cared for by Jobel, a Pinay caregiver since he was a newborn. She reportedly asked the child’s parents if it was okay to teach Nicholas to speak and Tagalog, and they reportedly said yes.
“I asked his parents if it’s okay to teach and for him to speak in Tagalog and they’re okay with it,” Jobel said in a mix of English and Filipino.

Nicholas is seen speaking Tagalog and conversing with Jobel in a video aired by GMA’s 24 Oras. Nicholas, although being of Russian ancestry, does not speak the language, according to his Pinay nanny.
He’s incrediblly game when it comes to counting and singing in the Philippine language, according to the article. Even his favorite dish, adobo, has a strong Filipino flavor. He also understands the terms “po” and “opo.”
“I remind him. When he asks for something like food, I tell him, ‘What will you say?’ He answers with ‘Salamat po [Thank you],'” Jobel said.
Meanwhile, an American recently went viral after a Filipino recorded him providing instructions in Tagalog. The uploader was overheard asking an American couple where he could find free parking in the vicinity in Tagalog.
Surprisingly, the American responded in Tagalog and offered him directions. The uploader stressed that the video he posted was not planned and that the American man he questioned was a complete stranger.
