DENR Employee in Cagayan Caught with Grenades, Ammunition Arrested

Local authorities arrested an employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) over illegal possession of grenades and ammunition.

The suspected DENR employee was arrested during a search of his residence in Gonzaga, Cagayan, according to the report. Dinemark Camit, 31, is the suspect, according to PMaj Garry Macadangdang, chief of the Gonzaga Police Station.

Camit is an employee of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Cagayan and a resident of Barangay San Jose, Gonzaga in the province, according to Macandangdang.

The search against the Camit was performed by Gonzaga Police Station officers, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, the 4th Mobile Force Platoon, and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.

According to the report, the suspect uncovered many parts of grenade during the thorough search. Aside from that, officials discovered one magazine for an M16 rifle, 11 rounds of 5.56 caliber ammo, and six rounds of.45 caliber ammunition.

Judge Nicanor Pascual of RTC Br. 8 issued a search warrant for alleged RA 10591 violations. The suspect is now in police custody, facing charges of RA 10591 and RA 9516.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company detained three suspects, one of which was a lady, and recovered firearms. The three suspects, who were aboard a Jungkong-style watercraft, were apprehended after a high-seas chase in which they rushed away from patrolling police officers.

One sling bag and one caliber were discovered in the possession of the suspects. A coin purse, a 45 handgun with ammunition, and two medium-size heat-sealed translucent plastic sachets of suspected shabu A coin purse and 28 small-size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu were also seized.
