Update on Manila Cash Aid Distribution amid ECQ
MANILA CASH AID – Manila Mayor Isko Moreno gave an update about the financial assistance for the residents amid the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.
The threat of the Delta variant of COVID-19, currently the variant of concern across the globe for its higher transmissibility, prompted stricter lockdown measures in the Philippines.
In the pursuit to prevent the spread of the virus, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against COVID-19 proposed to place Metro Manila under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for two (2) weeks. The said suggestion was given a green light by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The ECQ in Metro Manila started last August 6, 2021 and it will last until August 20, 2021. For the quarantine measure to be implemented after August 20, the authorities would have to discuss it again based on the situation.
To assist the residents of Metro Manila who will be greatly affected by the ECQ, the national government released funds to be extended as a financial aid. Previously, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed that the budget for the Manila cash aid won’t be enough so all in the previous list would be given but he assured that he will look for a solution so everyone will receive.
