Belo Medical Group takes down its latest advertisement due to this
Leading beauty company in the Philippines, Belo Medical Group, issued an apology to the public after its recent “pandemic effect” advertisement garnered criticisms from the online community.
Belo has been a go-to of many people, men or women, when it comes to their beauty routines and self-improvement rituals. The company that celebrity doctor Vicki Belo established released an ad on Tuesday morning featuring the struggle of a woman amid the pandemic.

It can be seen in the video that changes occurred to the woman’s physical being over the course of time while she is just at home. The tagline was, “Tough times call for beautiful measures,” based on the article in ABS-CBN.
This ad was created by Gigil, the same agency behind the viral RC Cola ad. In an official statement that the ad agency released regarding the issue on the ad for Belo Medical Group, it said that the video aimed to make people realize that negative energy is affecting the in a person’s appearance without even realizing it.
“This pandemic has been exhausting. Luckily, Belo reminds us that it’s here to take care of us,” the statement added. However, this received criticisms from the online community as netizens said that it is a sort of body shaming and insensitive to what many people may feel during the lockdown.
Early on Wednesday, Belo Medical Group released a statement saying sorry for the ill effect that the ad has given to many. The beauty company also said that it have taken the ad down after hearing the thoughts of many people about this.
“We hear you. You helped us see what we failed to see, which is that the film is insensitive and upsetting. Because of this, we have taken the ad down. We commit ourselves to learning from this and to bring our learnings into the future,” the beauty company stated.
