2 Couple Check-in in a Hotel Arrested After Found with P1.3M Illegal Drug Plant
Authorities seized P1.3-million worth of dried illegal plant from a couple check-in at a hotel in Tabuk, Kalinga, Tuguegarao City.
Cindy Paclay-Addawi, 38, and Saldy Wasigan, 28, both from Tabuk City, are the two suspects, according to Cagayan Valley regional police spokesman Lt Col. Andree Michelle Abella. They were apprehended after selling the drugs to an undercover agent inside the hotel.
According to Abella, the CVPRO intelligence section received a report that the couple is possessing dried Maryjane leaves while being check-in in the hotel. The CVPRO operatives launched an anti-illegal drug operation right away, and the two were apprehended inside the hotel.
Dried marijuana leaves in ten rectangular containers weighing 11 kilos, a cellphone, a motorcycle, and marked peso banknotes were among the things seized. The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was allegedly broken by Addawi and Pasigan.
Meanwhile, a joint force of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Novaliches Police Station 4 conducted a buy-bust operation against three Chinese nationals, who allegedly possessed 127 kilos of illegal substances known as “shabu” in Quezon City.
A vacuum-sealed plastic tea sachet containing 127 kilos of shabu and branded Chinese characters worth P863 million was uncovered. The accused were all members of a big multinational syndicate involved in the distribution of drugs in the country, according to Director Adrian Alvarino, chief of the PDEA Intelligence and Investigation Service (IIS).
