Rico Blanco re-recorded this song for Hidilyn Diaz’s Olympic victory
Singer-songwriter Rico Blanco pays tribute to Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz through this re-recorded inspiring song.
After the historic win of Hidilyn in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, several celebrities and prominent personalities in the Philippines paid tribute to her like Wowowin host Willie Revillame who honored the Pinay weightlifter through a video shown on his show.
As a singer, Rico also honored Hidilyn and it is through the song Alab ng Puso of Rivermaya. The former band member uploaded a re-recorded version of the said song on his YouTube channel on July 27.
He wrote in the description of his video that upon waking up, he could not believe that the Philippines now has an Olympic Gold Medal. Then, he shared that he also loves sports and not just music.
The singer-songwriter added that he has been dreaming that the country will reach this kind of victory.
The song that Rico Blanco used as a tribute to Hidilyn Diaz has inspiring lyrics about being triumphant despite the struggles that one has to go through. Alab ng Puso was first released in 2002 under Rivermaya’s Live and Acoustic album.
