According to Perez, Abapo was apprehended at 11:00 p.m. on Tangile Street in Barangay Lagao after selling illegal drugs known as “shabu” for P500 to an undercover cop. Abapo was detained and had another sachet of illegal substances worth P1,200 taken from him.

Cablitas was apprehended about 11:50 p.m. in Doa Soledad Subdivision after another buy-bust operation. They are on our watchlist and are considered high-value targets, according to Perez.

Before the buy-bust operation, the former police officers were supposedly under surveillance for several weeks. In 1995, both suspects allegedly became police officers.

According to the police investigation, Abapo allegedly resigned early. Staff Sergeant Cablitas, on the other hand, was a former Police Officer 1 who was fired after testing positive for drugs ten years ago.

Cablitas is the spouse of the late newspaper publisher, who was among the journalists from this city killed in the November 2009 Ampatuan massacre. The suspects will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 or sale and possession of dangerous substances of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
