PRC Warns Public Against Fake Booking Sites Offering Swab Testing

PRC Reminds Public About Fake Booking Sites, Agents Offering Swab Test

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has warned the public against the alleged fake booking sites and agents who were offering swab tests.

Senator Richard Gordon, chairman of the PRC, said someone had contacted his office with evidence that numerous people were posing as PRC personnel. They stated that they would demand payment from the victims, which would be put in their own bank accounts so that a swab test could be scheduled.

Gordon noted, however, that they will only accept bookings made through the PRC’s official booking site. The public can only book and pay through the PRC’s official booking sites: book.redcross.org.ph and dashlabs.ai, according to the PRC.

“Many people are having a hard time because of the pandemic,” Gordon said. “Don’t take advantage of the situation to scam people.”

Gordon advised people to phone the Red Cross hotline 1158 if they were approached by someone posing as a Red Cross representative. With 3.5 million tests done, the Red Cross currently leads the way in terms of COVID-19 RT-PCR testing, accounting for 25% of nationwide testing.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has declared that quarantine hotels and resorts are now open to families. Following claims that some certified lodgings still enforce the “one room, one person” regulation, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat made the announcement.

For people who come from the same household, according to Puyat, the policy is no longer necessary. She also clarified that the single room occupancy requirement applies only to those who come from different households.
