Residents of the barangay, on the other hand, were taken aback by the operation, especially because they had been pronounced drug-free. They were able to pass through, according to Kagawad Mina Bugayong of Barangay 766, but the contraband was allegedly sold elsewhere.

The barangay plans to travel from home to house to re-evaluate their surroundings and ensure that they are not exposed to illegal narcotics again. Meanwhile, the apprehended suspect is in police custody and faces allegations of breaking the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Meanwhile, in Oas town, Albay province, three drug peddlers were slain, two of whom were classified by the police as high-value targets (HVT), and more than PHP1.7 million worth of suspected shabu was recovered in a buy-bust operation.

One of the defendants was arrested selling 10 grams of shabu to an undercover agent for PHP40,000. After the illegal drug transaction was completed, the suspect recognized that he was dealing with police officers, so he drew his weapon and shot at the police officer (poseur-buyer), prompting them to protect themselves by shooting the suspect, according to a police report.

He stated that the suspect’s two accomplices also drew their firearms and shot at the officers, resulting in a gunfight. According to the report, the suspects had gunshot wounds in various places of their bodies.
