The seismology agency said that Taal emits sulfur dioxide averaging 6,574 tonnes last Friday (July 16). It also produced about 1,200-meter steam-rich plumes from the crater, which drifts north and northeast.

Taal Volcano remains under alert level 3 wherein magma extruding from the Main Crater could drive explosive eruption.

The agency also reminded the public that entry in Taal Volcano Island is strictly prohibited after it has been declared as a Permanent Danger Zone due to the hazards of pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami.

“All activities on Taal Lake should not be allowed at this time,” Phivolcs said.
