President Duterte To Visit Sulu Following C-130 Cargo Plane Crash

DUTERTE TO VISIT SULU – President Rodrigo Duterte said he would go to Sulu following the tragic crash of a cargo plane.

Recently, a C-130 cargo plane crashed killing 47 soldiers and 50 civilians. According to Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, the remains of the fallen soldiers are en route to Zamboanga City on a Philippine Navy vessel.

When interviewed by the church-run radio station, DXMS, Sobejana said that he sympathized with the families of those who died in the unfortunate crash. Furthermore, he said that the government assured to give aid for all that were affected in the crash that occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Currently, Investigations are still on going to figure out what caused the plane to crash. “We have our team of investigators, we are in the thick of our investigation to determine what caused the tragedy”, he said.

The C-130 planes are used to transport troops and supplies. Moreover, they are used to deliver humanitarian aid and disaster relief. Along with this, many of the passengers on the plane were fresh graduates of basic military training.

They were set to be deployed for a joint task force fighting terrorism in Jolo Sulu. The incident also came a month after a Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a night-time flight training which killed all six onboard.
