Father, Son in Cagayan de Oro Arrested Over Fake COVID-19 RT-PCR Test Results
Fake RT-PCR test results for COVID-19 resulted in the arrest of a father and son after they allegedly presented the said documents to enter the ship.
After reportedly exhibiting bogus reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results while boarding an inter-island ship in Cagayan De Oro heading for Bohol, a 57-year-old businessman and his 19-year-old son were arrested.
Jasper The operation was carried out after the Bohol inter-agency task force (IATF) warned them about the suspects’ suspicious results, according to Ken Ola, cluster chief of the Department of Health’s COVID-19 monitoring team.
The accused are from Cagayan De Oro City’s Youngsville Subdivision, Barangay Iponan. The two were arrested while on a “business trip,” according to the article.
Although he did not take the swab test, the father admitted to paying P4,500 for the result. The father and son are accused of violating the Public Safety Act and falsifying documents, according to Ola.
