Valenzuela LGU to Help Factory Worker Who Received Salary in Centavo Coins to Find Job

Valenzuela LGU to Find Job for Poor Factory Worker Who Received Salary in Centavo Coins

The Valenzuela City’s local government unit would help the factory worker who received its salary in centavo coins to find a new job.

Previously, Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian has ordered to investigate the NexGreen Factory after allegedly paying one of its employees with centavo coins. The worker received P1, 056 cash in centavo coins.

The company’s act is considered as a violation of the BSP Circular No. 537, Series of 2008. The bill prohibits employers to force employees to accept salary in coins.

The local government unit of Valenzuela City has already ordered the suspension of Nexgreen Enterprises’ operations for violating the labor practices including failure to provide overtime, night differential, and holiday pay.

The factory also violated the Civil Code Law for tax evasion charges. The firm’s operation will be suspended up to 15 days. The company apologized to the employee but the LGU would sue them.
