UK Health Minister Resigns from Post after Violating Health Protocol for Kissing Staff
United Kingdom (UK) Health Minister formally resigns from job after he violated COVID-19 health protocol for allegedly kissing his staff.
Matt Hancock, the British health minister, has resigned after kissing and hugging one of the company’s employees in violation of the COVID-19 guideline. By embracing an aide in his office, he was caught breaking COVID-19 rules, enraging colleagues and the public who had been living under lockdown.

Hancock wrote to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, requesting his resignation, saying he had disappointed the public. After the Sun tabloid published images of the married minister embracing a lady he had recruited to a taxpayer-funded post to scrutinize his department, his Conservative colleagues privately called for him to go.
“Those of us who make these rules have got to stick by them and that’s why I’ve got to resign,” according to a tweet by Hancock.
Hancock had been in the forefront of the government’s campaign against the pandemic, appearing on television to urge the public to follow the COVID-19 regulation and defend the department from criticism.
Former finance minister Sajid Javid will take his position. Javid is a government veteran who is fresh to the health ministry. When Javid lost a power struggle with Johnson’s then-most senior ally, Dominic Cummings, he was forced out of the Treasury in early 2020.
Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister, accepted Hancock’s resignation. Johnson has also suffered an embarrassment as a result of Hancock’s resignation, as he stated that he had accepted Hancock’s apologies and considered the matter closed.
“You should be immensely proud of your service. I am grateful for your support and believe that your contribution to public service is far from over,” Johnson said.
