Bong Nebrija Slams Riders Taking Shelter Under Overpass During Rain

MMDA Traffic Chief Bong Nebrija Slams Riders Taking Shelter Under Overpass

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic chief Bong Nebrija slams and called out several riders captured taking shelter under an overpass during inclement weather.

Nebrija Slams Overpass Riders

In a Facebook post, Nebrija expressed his displeasure with motorcyce riders who shelter under overpasses during downpours to avoid getting wet. The technique, according to Nebrija, is extremely risky, and all it takes for the riders to become “bowling pins” is a tired driver or a poorly maintained vehicle.

“Isa lang na SUV o light truck ang mawalan ng preno, o makatulog ang driver o di kaya lasing at masuyod kayo dyan na parang bowling pin, kawawa naman pamilya nyo na nagaantay sa inyong makauwi,” the official said.

“Please naman kung pwede huwag kayo dyan magpalipas ng ulan. Napakadelikado po,” he went on to remark that he expected people to criticize him for his viewpoint on the matter.

Nebrija also used the occasion to remind riders that they must be prepared to face bad weather on the trip. “Ang rider di takot sa ulan,” he said. “In the Navy, there is no such thing as bad weather only different kinds of good weather. Hooyah!”
