Hungry Elephant Viral After It Wrecks Kitchen In Search Of Meal
HUNGRY ELEPHANT WRECKS KITCHEN – A homeowner was left in awe after what she thought was a thief, turned out to be a massive elephant inside their kitchen.
Usually, kitchen’s aren’t an elephant’s natural habitat. However, due to hunger, one elephant named “Boonchuay” wondered off Thailand’s Kaeng Krachan national park in search for food.
In a viral video, Boonchuay can be seen smashing an elephant size hole in Ratchadawan Puengprasoppon’s kitchen wall. Along with this, the elephant rummaged around the kitchen with its trunk, throwing utensils and pans onto the kitchen floor.
Additionally, elephants, being as smart as they are, opened up drawers searching for food. Unfortunately for the elephant, the fridge was further away.
According to an article from The Guardian, the incident wasn’t the first instance that Boonchuay wondered away. Surprisingly, Boonchuay was believed to have been in the same house during his previous visit.
As per the article, Itthipon Thaimonkol, the superintendent of Kaeng Krachen, said:
They come to visit quite often. They always come when there is the local market because they can smell food
Sadly, experts believe that the reason for elephants wondering off into populated areas is due to a decline of resources in their natural habitat due to human activities. Furthermore, Dr Joshua Plotnik, a psychologist who studies elephant behavior stated that:
If you don’t fulfil the elephants’ need for food, water and other resources in their natural habitat… they will find ways around deterrents and access villages or cropfields in search of these resources.
