“The Group CEO and Co-founder of Grab went on trying to become a GrabFood delivery guy today. This is admirable for a CEO to experience what his partner-drivers are struggling with; and immersing himself in the entire process to learn how he can improve Grab’s service.
“I try to do GrabFood delivery every few months. I went on foot the last time, and decided to cycle this time. I buddied up with Mr Lim, an experienced delivery-partner. Here’s our assessment of how I did
1-Prep: Fail. Forgot to detach the baby seat on my new bike to make space for my GrabFood bag. Didn’t install the metal sticks in my bag, so it couldn’t close tightly.
2-Pick-up food: Smooth! Found the merchants quickly in the mall, checked that every order was correctly packed (they were!), waited an average of only 3+ mins despite the lunch hour.
3-Getting around: Slightly difficult. Didn’t know where to park my bike, and it rained.
4-Delivery: Smooth, I think! Only met 1 person as most chose contactless delivery, so I couldn’t get much feedback.
In 1.5-2 hrs, my total count: 4 batched orders. According to Mr Lim, experienced delivery-partners complete up to 5 orders in the same duration. I have lots to learn! So grateful that Mr Lim took time to guide me. He’s a father to a 14 yr old, and he turns up every day, completing 20-30 orders, to support his family. I really admire his work ethic and energy, and hope he takes a break this weekend to celebrate Father’s Day.
Like Mr Lim, millions of our partners do their best daily for their loved ones. Happy #fathersday to all dads!”
