3 Fugitive Korean Nationals from Kidnap-for-Ransom Group Arrested by NBI
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested three (3) fugitive Korean nationals alleged member of kidnap-for-ransom group.
In Makati City, the NBI’s Special Action Unit apprehended three Korean fugitives suspected of being members of the Kidnap-for-Ransom (KFR) ring. Changjoo Cho, Dawon Beom, and Changwoo Hong were identified as the suspects, based on the report.

According to NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor, the three foreign nationals live in Senta Tower, Legazpi Village, and Makati City. Cho, Beom, and Hon. Distor said they are involved in kidnap-for-ransom and operate in Manila and Makati City, armed with high-powered firearms that they utilize in illicit activity.
The NBI-SAU immediately called the Bureau of Immigration (BI), where it was discovered that Cho, Beom, and Hong were fugitives in South Korea, wanted for violating Article 26 of the Korean National Sports Promotion Act, which carries a sentence of up to seven years in jail.
Soo Hwan Park, one of those apprehended at the three’s home, was released but was required to visit the SAU office for identification and documents. The BI-Fugitive Search Unit received the three Korean fugitives.
